BAPTISM - What is Baptism?
Thanksgiving for the Birth of a Child
In this service the parents with the congregation give thanks to God for the gift of their child and pray that they will be good parents. The minister gives the parents a copy of the New Testament for their child. The minister then takes the child in her arms and prays
"Almighty God look with favour on this child; grant that, being nourished with all goodness, s/he may grow in discipline and grace until s/he comes to the fullness of faith; through Jesus Christ our Lord Amen"
